Future Delusion 1 Michi and Ellena start dating and one day they talk about their ideal future. As they discuss their ideals, they begin to realize their true joy. The more they realize, the more fun they have, and the closer they get to love. A fact-based, philosophical thought story.

Ellena and Michi were seriously considering their future together. They felt that they loved each other and were conscious of the possibility of marriage. Today was the day they had promised to talk about their future.

 First, Ellena said,

“Thank you for making time today. I think this will be a very important time for both of us.”

 Michi gently responded to Ellena,

“Thank you too. I believe that our ideal future will come true, so I’d like to talk about many things.”

“Well then, since health is the most important thing, can you tell me your ideal vision for health?” Ellena asked.

“Sure. I think health isn’t something determined by measurements, doctors’ diagnoses, or other people, but something you define for yourself. If I can move through my daily life without any pain or discomfort, I consider myself healthy. How about you, Ellena?” Michi replied.

“I’m afraid of serious illnesses like cancer, and since early detection increases the chances of treatment with medication or surgery, I want to have regular health checkups and screenings.” Ellena was surprised to find that their values were completely opposite from the start.

“It’s not about which is right or which is better. It’s about what each person wants to do, and it’s okay for everyone to have different opinions. We shouldn’t judge each other.” Ellena added, trying to soften the conversation.

“My belief is that we are given life, and that illnesses, including injuries and disabilities, exist to protect us. So, if an illness or symptom leads to death, I believe that’s what’s best for me.” Michi explained slowly, noticing Ellena’s effort to be supportive.

 Ellena, with sparkling eyes, said,

“That’s a wonderful way of thinking. I feel a great deal of humility in your approach to life itself. While it also sounds like you’re resigned to the fact that everything that happens to you is for the best, I also sensed a strong conviction. I agree with you, Michi.”

“Thank you. So, does that mean you won’t go for health checkups or screenings anymore?” Michi asked.

“Nah, I think I’ll keep going for now,” Ellena replied.

 Michi muttered to himself, “Really?”

“Anyway, my ideal for health is to always look for things that I find enjoyable and do what I want to do in the moment. That way, I think I’ll feel happy, reduce stress, and recover quickly even if I do get sick. It’s about being healthy in both mind and body through fun experiences,” Michi concluded.

“That sounds just like you, Michi. But I also think that’s an ideal worth pursuing. If you can do what you truly want and feel fulfilled in both body and mind, you’ll probably be truly happy, and you might have no regrets even if you die at any moment.” Ellena agreed with Michi’s opinion.

“Exactly. So, what are you going to do about the health checkups and screenings?” Michi asked, hoping for an answer he wanted to hear.

“Nah, I think I’ll keep going,” Ellena answered.

Michi silently reacted with, “You’re still going?”

“At least our ideals aligned,” Michi remained optimistic.
