1. Why Do We Want to Hurt or Destroy Things?

The act of hurting or breaking things or people is a way to soothe unpleasant emotions. The real issue is that you dislike the version of yourself that is experiencing these negative emotions. Instead of dealing with the fluctuating emotions, you try to negate your existence by hurting or destroying people or things.

2. Hurting Others Is the Same as Hurting Yourself

When you love every part of yourself, you also develop a love for people and objects. Hurting others stems from disliking some part of yourself. Breaking objects indicates that there is something within you that you wish to eliminate. It’s not that hurting others or breaking things makes you dislike yourself―disliking yourself comes first.

3. Instead of Avoiding What Others Dislike, Do What You Want Done for You

You can only guess what others might be feeling. Since you don’t know what will make others happy, you end up experimenting. You feel uncertain because you don’t know what you want to do for others. What you want others to do for you is what you truly want to do for others.

4. What You Want Done for You Is What You Want to Do

Since people’s feelings are constantly changing, instead of trying to match their moods, focus on discovering what you genuinely want to do for others. What you truly want to do is unchanging. By doing things that bring you joy, you won’t end up disliking yourself, and as a result, you won’t take out your frustration on others or objects.
