When you have chronic symptoms such as lower back pain, stiff shoulders, or asthma, you’ll realize that you’re able to do what you want to do.
You’ll understand that chronic pain or illness teaches you that even though you’re often able to do or say more than you can, you tend to focus only on the negative aspects―what you can’t do or say. Instead of acting or speaking to achieve results that satisfy you or to gain approval or validation from others, try focusing on the fact that you can act on what you want to do and that you can express what you want to say. If you do this, you’ll likely avoid unpleasant situations.
